The Director of Technology will work to improve the overall quality of education received by students through the use of technology and will provide a vision for the implementation and use of technology to advance education for Joplin Schools.

Essential Functions:
- Recommends policies, procedures and/or actions for the purpose of providing direction for meeting the district’s goals and objectives.
- Manages immediate supervision of members of the district technology department, including hiring, supervision, and evaluation.
- Directs department personnel for the purpose of prioritizing project deadlines and ensuring optimal utilization of personnel to include:
- educational technology
- data processing
- help desk
- technical training
- technical repair
- network management
- fully operational television station
- Participates in a variety of planning and development activities, including district-wide committees, for the purpose of creating short and long range plans.
- Supports implementation of a comprehensive strategic education plan.
- Manages multiple technical and educational technology projects from project research to strategic execution.
- Manage budgets used for technology purchases, including Capital Projects Funds, grants, building projects, and other funds.
- Guides responsible purchasing for all technical equipment/software/service procurement including bids, following all district purchasing policies and protocols.
- Demonstrates responsibility for 7000+ technical devices, a 1GB fiber backbone WAN, and 25 LANs.
- Assesses current and emerging technology trends and their potential impact on educational technology and the proper routes to implementation and evaluation.
- Applies visionary skills toward the application of unique technological advancements to enhance learning throughout the district.
- Other duties as assigned.
Physical Demands
The individual who holds this position is regularly required to walk, hear and speak and must have close moderate and distance vision ability. This individual must be able to travel between district facilities. The position requires a moderate amount of travel, both in and out of district.
